New York Blue Shadowstone Belmont University Cafeteria
At 10 stories, Tall Hall Residence Hall at Belmont University in Nashville TN, is the tallest building on campus and houses over 600 students. The 243,478 sqft LEED® Gold Certified building pays homage to Belmont’s architectural vernacular and addresses current and future student housing needs.
“We selected the Realstone Portugal series because its visual profile was a great compliment to the exterior architectural limestone. The texture of the stone was assertive enough to anchor the feature wall of the two-story lobby and the inherent strength of natural stone could stand up to daily collegiate traffic, in particular during the move-in and move-out phases. It has held up beautifully!”, said Janet Wennerlund of Earl Swensson Associates.
Featuring various housing options for students and sweeping views of Nashville’s skyline, this signature building is the tallest on the campus, while establishing additional green space. Rapid growth in student population in recent years created the need for this new co-ed residence hall, Belmont’s largest student housing building.
CHALLENGES: This project had many corners and required a large volume of product that could stand up to heavy traffic. With thousands of feet of stock, unique pre-built corners and a large selection of high-quality natural stone, Realstone was the perfect natural stone product for this project.
